Botanical Illustration for Wellness & Natural Brands

I create intricate, hand-drawn botanical illustrations, researched in depth and drawn entirely by hand using professional painting software, so that the brands I work with have visuals that do more than decorate. They make products feel inhabitable, made by a person, for a person, to be shared with other people.

ABOUT ELK ILLUSTRATIONS

I am Emma L Kurran, I’m a botanical illustrator creating intricate, hand-drawn work for brands rooted in nature, wellness, and thoughtful living.

Every piece begins with careful research and is drawn entirely by hand using professional digital tools, so the final artwork feels considered, not generic. My aim isn’t just to decorate a product, but to give it a sense of depth and presence, something people connect with instinctively.

Clients often tell me their customers don’t just notice the artwork, they feel drawn to it. It creates a quieter kind of impact: the kind that builds trust, encourages loyalty, and makes a product feel genuinely special.

I’m known for working calmly and reliably, even under pressure, so the process feels as steady and supportive as the finished work looks.

  • This will depend on your needs and contract.

If you require exclusive rights (meaning I cannot reuse or sell the illustrations to anyone else) contact me to discuss exclusive licensing options.

However, if you do not need exclusive illustrations remember: I do not create identical illustrations for competing brands. Your illustrations are tailored to your aesthetic and needs, making them unique to your brand in practice.

  • Style:

All botanical subjects (herbs, garden flowers, medicinal plants, trees) available on request.

Seasonal themed collections are tailored to your brand - spring bulbs, summer meadow flowers, autumn berries, winter evergreens.

  • Yes.

A clear licensing agreement is provided with every contract which includes commercial usage rights for the illustrations you receive, documenting exactly what you can and cannot do with the artwork.

This means you can use them for:

    • Product packaging and labels

    • Social media posts and marketing

    • Website graphics and banners

    • Email marketing campaigns

    • Print materials (flyers, brochures, posters)

    • Brand identity and style guides

    You cannot:

    • Resell the illustrations as standalone digital products (e.g. selling them on Etsy as clipart)

    • Sub-license the illustrations to other companies

    • Claim you created the illustrations

  • We go through rounds of approval for several stages for each illustration to make sure we are both on the same page and the final artwork is something you love.

1st round of review is composition.

2nd/ 3rd rounds of review are levels of detail and colour.

    If you're not satisfied:

Email me within 7 days of delivery with specific feedback. I'll make revisions based on your brief. If the illustration fundamentally doesn't match your original request due to miscommunication, I'll redraw it at no extra cost.

    If it's still not right:

This is extremely rare, but if after revisions you're still not satisfied, we can discuss options.

The goal is always to deliver botanical art you're genuinely happy to use. Clear communication and sketch approval process prevents most issues before final delivery.
